8th Grade Promotion Criteria

An 8th grade student must meet attendance requirements, pass 3 of 4 core subjects, and (because we won't have LEAP scores) score 50% or higher on ELA and Math CRT. A student who does not meet CRT criteria--the student must attend summer remediation. Upon completion of summer remediation and based on a preponderance of evidence, SBLC determines placement of 8th grade, 9th grade, or T9.

After summer school, a student must exhibit the following in order to be promoted to 9th grade:
Student must show Star Growth--Positive growth--student promoted to 9th grade.
If student does not show Star Growth, SBLC can retain in 8th or promote to T9 based on the back of the Promotion Checklist card.
Four favorable responses--student promoted to T9.
Fewer than four favorable responses--student retained in 8th grade.
(T9 only applies to first time eighth graders and they must attend summer remediation)
